Testimonial: Sumo's Collar

Just heard from Sumo's human about his new collar.  Sounds like he's enjoying it!

"Just wanted to say thank you so much for making Sumo a new collar. It looks awesome and he no longer needs to feel like he's being choked by a collar that's too small! It was hard to find something that fit a 200+ lb dog with a 28" neck. I am so impressed with this! Thank you again so much. I will recommend you to everyone I know!"

Pencil Case, Mouse

This pattern is nifty enough I might tweak it into normal production (minus the Mickeys).  The client was looking for a birthday gift for their daughter who has a special attachment to her Mickey mouse journal.  The elastic band should just slide over the cover of the journal and the coloring/design are a pretty close match.

A book of my own

I've been wanting to make a book for more or less ever.  Writing a book (if not publishing) is something I have a bit of practice at but crafting it into a physical thing isn't something I've ever gotten to do before.

My wife's campaign is due to wrap up sometime this fall and when it does I'll be running a short campaign to introduce my own homebrew setting.  It struck me as a perfect opportunity to make my own worldbook.  Working my off hours or between projects I did all the writing, map drawing, and whipped up the art (with spousal assistance) between April and June.  Wound up with 25,000 words (not counting ~10,000 words copied from FATE Core to cover the mechanics) which makes about 100 pages.  It's slim even for a worldbook but that was intentional.  I was shooting for something our players could flip through in an evening.

We won't be starting this campaign for a few months yet but tonight's our usual game so I'll get to show off the book in a couple more hours.  I'm really excited to see what our players make of it all, not to mention finishing something I've spent so much time on.  I've learned a fair bit about binding books from scratch and expect I'll be doing more of that in the future.  I reckon this was just a prototype to get started.

Collar for Sumo the Mastiff

Sumo's a pretty big mastiff.  His 28" neck means my wife could wear his collar as a belt.  I laminated the collar so the arms of the studs wouldn't catch is Sumo's hair.  Might take a couple weeks for the leather to adjust to its new shape but I'll wager this'll be the comfiest collar Mr. Sumo's ever had.

Busy, busy, busy

I've been lucky to have lots of work to do this summer.  A lot of it is routine stuff I don't regularly post but I figured I'd make an exception this month and lump them all into one post.  In addition to other posts this month I've also made five dice cups and:

A shoulder strap color matched to an antique satchel

A custom belt pouch (fit to the client's camera)

A padded shoulder pad color-matched to the client's messenger bag

Dice Cup, Runkle Plays Games

I've done work for Mr. Runkle before and was quite happy to send him one of the PHB dice cups for his blog.  I may have included a few coins too... >_>

Dice Cup, Cassini

I'm not quite sure what this client's campaign is all about but with this imagery and a name like Cassini I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Saturn...

Dice Cup, Spider-Man

Just in time for the new Spidey movie I've got a Spider-man themed dice cup!  I've been a spidey-fan since the cartoon in the 90s so I'll be using this as my personal dice cup until it sells. =P
